He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and football - and especially watching his children’s and grandchildren’s activities. Gary worked for West Transportation until his retirement in 2006. Gary married Judy Millard on September 19, 1958, in Elk Point, S.D. The family relocated to Sioux City in 1945. Gary was born on March 14, 1941, in Sibley, Iowa, to Walbert and Dorothea (Steffenhagen) Gruis. on Friday, September 30, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Moville. Memorial services commemorating Gary’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. 18, 2016, at Kingsley Specialty Care in Kingsley, Iowa, following a brief illness.
